India National Cricket Team Vs Australian Men’s Cricket Team Match Timeline Analysis

Australia and India have a great history. Both nations learned cricket from British influence. Hence, they started to play the game first. In Test cricket, they started to play before.

And it was the 1975 World Cup, the first edition of CWC, where Australia lost to the West Indies. At that time, Australia, England and the West Indies were top sides. But it was India who won the World Cup in 1983 by beating two-time winners in West Indies. This was a great clash and the very thing made India the powerhouse.

But Australia did not take a lot to start their winning journey of silverware by winning the 1987 World Cup. And after this, the first step of Australia’s dominance in cricket started. And in 1996, they reached the World Cup but lost the game to Sri Lanka.

And in 1999, Australia beat Pakistan to win their second World Cup. And this was the time when they started to dominate the game. And four years later,    Australia beat India to win the 2003 World Cup. And the final game was just one-sided where Australia scored over 300 runs and made India lose by a mile.

And the winning run did not stop as Australia beat Sri Lanka in 2007 to win the fourth 50-over World Cup. And it was also a one-sided win. In 2011, India made the comeback & won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. They beat Australia in the quarters, Pakistan in the semis and Sri Lanka in the final to win the second 2011 World’s Cup. But India also did well in winning the first edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007.

But Australia did not stop and won the 2015 CWC at home with beating New Zealand in the final. In 2006 and 2009, they won the Champions Trophy too. And then India also won the Champions Trophy in 2013 and they share a title with Sri Lanka too. Australia then solved the last puzzle and won the first T2O World Cup in 2021.

But another big game came in 2023. It was the CWC final, where host India faced Australia in the final. And it was India who was seen as the favourite. But the host did lose wickets while batting first and lost the game. It was a huge shocker for India. But Australia won the same cup for the sixth time.

But India then sent the good news with winning the 2023 T20 World Cup. Australia also beat India in the World Test Championship final by 209 runs in London, England. And it was another time when Australia did edge it over India.

And now both teams know each other even better as from 2008, Australian players play in the Indian Premier League. So it has made it even hard as they know how one player plays against other.

Post Match Analysis

The game did show that India’s batsmen need to perform form top to bottom to make such totals that can give bowlers more comfort. They stated well but did not end the game well. This impacted them to sore 20 to 30 runs less. And Australia came very deep in the game. But towards India’s positive, the bowlers did a nice job and made India win a crucial game.

Australia also had a good start but the middle order fail to make an impact and hence, they not reach the semis. Maxwell got a fast 20 in 12 balls. But losing the wicket then made them lose the game.
